Yesterday was a good but challenging day of ministry here in Braila. I am so proud of Dawn as she is really taking the teaching of the ladies Bible study in Lacu Dulce seriously. It is such a blessing to peek into the living room area in our apartment and see her searching through resources and scriptures to come up with each week’s study. She prays about what to teach and then just runs with it. I just try to encourage her and be available if she wants my back-up, so to speak. Now, back to the challenging part of the study yesterday. Dawn and I loaded up the portable music system and some...

We are so excited and probably a bit behind the curve on this technology… imagine that? Well, we ARE excited to be able to jump into the realm of podcasting. Lately I have been listening to a few language learning podcasts and it occurred to me that this was an awesome way to convey information. We already use prayer newsletters and will continue to do so but we will also start producing podcasts every two to three weeks for you to listen to. There is just something special about actually hearing the voice of the person telling the story… know what I mean? With that said, please feel free...

In this posting, I would like to talk a little about the quandary that many of us find ourselves in when we work in an environment where there is severe economic depression. Just yesterday I spoke with 2 national friends who are both qualified and skilled IT people and both are struggling to simply provide the basic needs for their families. One gentleman told me in a long conversation that he may be forced to move out of the country because of how difficult things are now in Romania. They have endured escalating taxation and recently the government arbitrarily cut his wife’s pay by 26% which...

This morning as I went for my prayer walk I was thinking about many things. I was again listening to some music as I walked along and I looked into the eyes of the people that I passed on the sidewalk. I try to simply take in all that is around me when I go on these walks and commune with the Father. Even though I generally am listening to music or language lessons or whatever, this is my “quiet time” with God. I try and open up my mind and spirit to what He wishes to impress upon me. This morning I was a bit overwhelmed with the fact that so many people are completely blinded by the enemy,...

Yesterday I was walking “in the cool of the day” with the Lord and listened to this song more closely. As I have mentioned before, I am very diverse in the type of music I listen to. I am not thrilled with all of Toby Mac’s music but there are some of his songs which really hit me just right, so to speak. This particular song has references to things which apply to where I am at and the culture that I minister to. I started thinking about the words coming through my headphones that spoke to third world missions and cathedrals. The general idea of the song (I believe) is about the...
