Big Things and Little Things

Big Things and Little Things
As we wake up this morning, the reality of leaving Braila is really sinking in. So many things have happened during the last year of our lives. Honestly, there have been some bad things and some good things. Yet as I sit here and type this message to you, I will make a conscious decision to only examine the good things. I cannot tell you all of the good things because this space would not be sufficient but I will touch on the events of the last week or so. Let’s start with last night… we were blessed to worship with Metanoia Church in their new location and they were very nice to us. Pastor...

Romanian Christmas 2010

Romanian Christmas 2010
Merry Christmas from Braila, Romania where we have had a very interesting day filled with special and unique blessings! Today, we have had unusually mild weather with temperatures around 60 and partly sunny skies. This is a big contrast to last Christmas when the temps were in the teens and there was close to 3 feet of snow on the ground. Regardless, we enjoyed the day as we started off with helping our Roma friends at Lacu Dulce Mission Church present a children’s Christmas program. Dawn and I provided our laptop and some portable music equipment and some encouragement and Christmas goodies too!...

Operation Christmas Child and Metanoia Church

Operation Christmas Child and Metanoia Church

Pastor Mezin led in some traditional Romanian carols and later I sang a traditional American carol to them in English… I think that some of them understood. Florin Gheorghe also said a few words to the children. If I understood the circumstances...

Operation Christmas Child and Holy Trinity

Operation Christmas Child and Holy Trinity
Yesterday, I was asked to come along to assist with a OCC distribution at a local elementary school here in the city. I have some portable sound equipment that I use in ministry and in this case, it was very useful for my friends at Holy Trinity to present a program to the group of kids who gathered in the upstairs theater area. We had a group of around 200 children with age ranges from around 8 – 10 years old I believe. Claudia Stefanuti did a great job organizing the event and along with some young people from the church, they presented some songs, a skit and a puppet show about the importance...

Christmas in Perspective

Christmas in Perspective
Look closely at the photo which I used for this post. It is a scene from behind our apartment block. Click the audio control below to listen to the attached music as you read this and look at the picture. I pray that as you do this, you will slow down a bit and ask yourself what Christmas really means to you. Please please, please know that I am not trying to hurt your feelings. No, not at all… but I do hope to make you think about what your emphasis is this time of the year. I hope to jog your sensibilities to step out of the materialistic fog that many of us tend to get caught up in at...
