Romanian Christmas 2010

Romanian Christmas 2010
Merry Christmas from Braila, Romania where we have had a very interesting day filled with special and unique blessings! Today, we have had unusually mild weather with temperatures around 60 and partly sunny skies. This is a big contrast to last Christmas when the temps were in the teens and there was close to 3 feet of snow on the ground. Regardless, we enjoyed the day as we started off with helping our Roma friends at Lacu Dulce Mission Church present a children’s Christmas program. Dawn and I provided our laptop and some portable music equipment and some encouragement and Christmas goodies too!...

Old Fashioned Christmas Music

Old Fashioned Christmas Music
Ok, this is just for fun! Go to the full article to find a Shoutcast player which will play lots of old Christmas music. Yes, it is mostly nostalgic old secular music and some modern mixes but that is alright… most of us from the US from my generation will remember these songs. Of course, I am only providing an embedded player link so I have no control over the line up of music being player. I just thought it would be neat including this on our site the last week before Christmas. I hope you enjoy it and if you are not familiar with Shoutcast, I would recommend that you check it out. They have...

Lacu Dulce Children – Video

Lacu Dulce Children – Video
Here is a short of a song that the children at Lacu Dulce were practicing recently on a Saturday in the mission church. These practice sessions have become a collaborative effort for sure. It was a good day. During these practice times, the children hear commentary on scripture verses, they are led in praying, they sing Christian...

Giving Thanks

Giving Thanks
Thanksgiving Day was a blessing. Sure, we were away from home and our children. That part was not easy but here in our field of service, we have made new friends and have grown close to many of our colleagues. The last year has been filled with many twists and turns and opportunities to serve our Lord. Obviously, I am thankful for my personal salvation and for Jesus Christ who made this possible. I am thankful for a Christian family and the peace that I get from knowing that my wife and two children are also saved. I am thankful for a church family back in Tennessee who cares for us. I am thankful for...

What if…

What if…
Look at the picture closely. This is a sight that I see often… a person, maybe a man or maybe a woman, who pulls a little make-shift buggy with a large sack filled with items which might be sold as recyclables in order to buy food and other daily needs. On this occasion the scavenger was a woman. She had gone through all of the neighborhood dumpsters and other garbage containers to gather plastic bottles and metal cans… stomping them down on the asphalt and placing them in her old dirty sack. What if the only way that you would eat today was by getting up before daylight and working all day...
