Hello 2011

Hello 2011

Happy New Year to all who may read this little message! For us here in Bucharest, Romania… the new year came in to the sounds of our snoring on a quiet little side street which is iced over and very cold. Thankfully, the 1st floor flat that we are currently living in was nice and warm. I suppose it is a sign of our age but we had no real desire to get out and slip slide and fight the elements. I actually did walk to a local market earlier in the afternoon yesterday… fell once. You have to hate that black ice. We have only been here about three days and I am already getting stir crazy. If the temps hit the mid 30’s today as predicted, maybe some of this will melt… we shall see.

Ok, now… I sit here in a new location typing a message to you feeling thankful for a new opportunity in a new year. Last year was a crazy one! It was like a roller coaster ride of ups and downs and a few quiet peaceful sections of track were thrown in too. Sometimes when we review a past year, we wonder why things happen as they did. Sometimes, it is best to not dwell on the past too much… other than realize that there really is a bigger plan working that what we see with our natural eyes. God does have a purpose and plan for us and if we can just find it within ourselves to stay the course, well… He will make the end result much better than we ever could. So… learn, grow and leave the past behind.

For us, 2011 holds new opportunities and new places. First, in just 12 days (from this writing) we will be afforded the opportunity to go back home to our little town in Tennessee to enjoy a retreat with our family and friends. For one month we will soak up the love and fellowship that we have missed from those we left behind. May the Lord bless those times as we look forward to them. After that month passes, we will head back here to Europe and then quickly relocate to Brno, Czech Republic where we will start a new job assignment. It really is like starting over again. We will join a new team, work in a new ministry, witness to a new people group, have new responsibilities… yes, it is a new season of opportunity for us and we look forward to it with excited anticipation! It is a neat thing to watch God open doors and close doors. May He help us to make the best of the new year for the glory of His precious name… amen.
