Pray for Our Visit to Prague

Pray for Our Visit to Prague
The picture is of a sign which is proudly displayed in front of the mayor’s office here in Braila, Romania. It is similar to other signs which try to establish an event or landmark. This one highlights Romania’s acceptance into the EU. However, on the listing of destinations… Prague is listed. Prague is in the Czech Republic and we are going to visit there soon. It is for this reason that I am writing this article… to ask you to pray for this trip. Dawn and I are going to visit with colleagues to discuss our future involvement with the team which develops strategy training for...

Music by the River

Music by the River
This time of the year the city of Braila typically sponsors various musical and cultural events for it’s citizens. Last night, Dawn and I went for a walk down by the river and saw a lot of people  wandering around and a small orchestra starting to gather at the amphitheater. It was a pretty elaborate setup with lots of lights and sound equipment and even a large LCD screen. People seemed to be in a good mood even with the hot humid conditions. Kids were roller skating and young couples were cuddling… it was a festive environment. We didn’t realize that there was an event like this...

Dawn Prepares to Teach

Dawn Prepares to Teach
This afternoon, Dawn will have an opportunity to teach the women’s Bible study at Lacu Dulce for the first time. I am so proud of her for accepting this challenge. I say challenge because if you know her, you know that she is a quiet natured person and works very well in assisting ministry endeavors but she normally doesn’t lead. She helps me with ministry projects but this time I will be her helper. She has been praying about what to teach on this first lesson and has been doing a lot of scriptural study to prepare. I snapped the picture for this post this morning as she was re-writing her...

Looking Back at 50

Looking Back at 50
It has been just a few days since I hit the 50 year milestone and I have wanted to write an article to attempt to express my thoughts and feelings about it. How does one sum up half a century of life experience in a short space? Of course, it is not possible… however, let me try to give you a little synopsis and I will try to recount it in a way as to paint a mostly positive picture even though some parts of it were not so pretty to look at. I was not a product of a Christian home nor did I come from a rich Christian background of evangelists or preachers. Yet, when I was a teenager and then into...

Family of Friends

Family of Friends
Take a good look at the picture which accompanies this posting. You will see a sweet family of friends who we met a few months ago at our company training center in Virginia. The husband, Rich, is a hoot and a great guy and dedicated Christian worker. His sweet wife Lisa is always an encourager and that sets her above the “typical” in our world today. Their two older children are simply precious and in my mind’s eye I still can see their little smiles in the mornings when we would all gather and have breakfasts at the training center. It is a custom in our “order”...
