Alter Call at Holy Trinity

Alter Call at Holy Trinity
Last Sunday we attended Holy Trinity Church as is our custom for the morning service and we witnessed something a bit different than what we usually see in Romanian churches. They had a guest speaker that morning… a friend from Texas. His name is Mike Fechner and he is a minister and main proponent of HIS Bridge Builders Ministry. I have had the pleasure to meet Mike on a few occasions and know a little about his life’s story. On Sunday, he spoke about putting Jesus first in our lives. He shared testimony about his battles with cancer and how God has healed him and prolonged his life. Mike...

Fun With Computers

Fun With Computers
This is a post just for my technician friends out there. It is not overtly ministry related however, the computers which I pieced together will be used to support a local ministry here in Braila. The pictures below just give you an idea of what it is like to evaluate an old computer lab. My friends at Holy Trinity Church here asked me to assist them in trying to put together a couple of computers which they could use in their offices. Holy Trinity is the church who sponsored us during our Visa extension process. Bro. Ben Boingeanu, who serves as interim pastor now, asked me to do this and I consider...

Cooperative Ministry

Cooperative Ministry
This post is a digital thank you to my company and the leadership in my cluster (missionary group). I do this because during this wild whirlwind of change which we have been riding over the last several months, we have tried to remain focused on the main thing… which is ministering to the peoples which we are called to engage. This ministry can come in the form of direct evangelism, under-girding the existing church, mobilizing believers via discipleship training, working with other like minded Christian organizations, and positive interaction between our own missional teams. This last part is...

Farewell to More Friends

Farewell to More Friends
This past weekend Dawn and I went to Bucharest to participate in a gathering for another “good-bye” for friends and colleagues. These are not easy to sit through sometimes because we know that it is yet another reminder of the constant change that has become part of our lives and the lives of our fellow laborers in Christ. On this occasion we honored Bob & Margie Craig  and Frank & Diane Camarotti. We gathered with nearly all of our fellow regional missionaries to meet and say our farewells. We ate a meal together and tried to say an encouraging word when we had the opportunity...

First Field Anniversary

First Field Anniversary
October 8th, 2009 was the day we left Tennessee and flew to our new place of service in Romania. So, two days ago, we celebrated our first anniversary on the field with imb. The actual date that we touched ground in Bucharest was October 9th. I hope that I do not sound too negative in this post because I do not want that to be the feeling that you come away with as you read this. Dawn and I have experienced so much during the last year… much of it was difficult and some of it was beautiful. So let me try to give you a recap of the year. For my colleagues on the field and elsewhere, this will...
